To All of Our Supporters,
As we’ve done the last several Decembers, we’d like to give you an overview of some of the things your generosity has helped us accomplish in 2024. The requests for assistance started coming in quickly again this January and they have not abated as the year progressed.
During calendar year 2024, the Foundation will have supplied more than 230 months of mortgage or rental assistance to help keep the families we’re asked to assist in their homes. In addition to paying numerous utility bills to keep the lights on, the water running and the Wi-Fi operational, the Foundation provided funds for three families to replace HVAC systems in their homes and one to replace a failed septic system so their children could be discharged from the hospital into a healthy and comfortable environment. The Foundation also purchased a new range for a family so mom could prepare healthy meals at home.
Reliable transportation to ensure children can receive necessary treatment is a common concern for the social workers and the parents with whom they work. As in previous years, the Foundation made many auto loan payments, some auto insurance payments, helped with some costly auto repairs and purchased two used autos and provided a down payment for another.
As of this writing, the number of families the Foundation has assisted this year is 88, an increase over last year’s total. Sadly, the Foundation was asked to help with funds to pay for the funeral costs of five children, but thankfully that’s a decrease from last year’s total. We’ve not yet made it to the middle of December so we know requests for assistance will continue, causing the totals to go higher before the end of the year.
Your continued support has helped to keep a growing number of families in their homes, with utilities paid, oil tanks filled, tolls for the turnpike available and their cars dependably on the road. Whether you’ve supported the Foundation this year by attending the Golf Classic or the Cadillac Dinner or participating in Lancaster’s ExtraGive, by writing a check throughout the year or by planning to support us with your end-of-year contributions, we humbly offer our most heartfelt thanks! The Foundation’s activities grow every year, with spending for families up more than 38% over last year. We couldn’t offer any of the assistance we described above without your generous donations. On behalf of all the families you’ve helped us assist this year, we thank you and wish you a blessed and healthy holiday season and a wonderful new year!
