To All of Our Supporters,

As we did last December, we’d like to give you an overview of some of the things your generosity has helped us accomplish in 2023.  The requests for assistance started coming in quickly last January and they haven’t abated as the year progressed.

During calendar year 2023, the Foundation will have supplied more than 170 months of mortgage or rental assistance to help keep the families we’re asked to assist in their homes.  In addition to paying numerous utility bills to keep the lights on and make sure phones were available for the inevitable emergencies that happen when a sick child needs help, the Foundation provided funds for a ramp to be installed so a child could be discharged from the hospital.  Food insecurity was a growing need for families this year, so the Foundation provided gift cards for area grocery stores.

Reliable transportation to ensure children can receive necessary treatment is a common concern for the social workers and the parents with whom they work.  As in previous years, the Foundation made many auto loan payments, some auto insurance payments, helped with auto repairs and purchased one used auto for a family.  Gift cards for gas purchases helped many families get to their appointments, especially when they needed to travel to Philadelphia for treatment.

As of this writing, the number of families the Foundation has assisted this year is 81, a significant increase over 58 families for the same period last year.  Sadly, the Foundation was asked to help with funds to pay for the funeral costs of seven children.  We’ve not yet made it to the middle of December so we know all the numbers will go higher before the end of the year.

Your continued support has helped to keep a growing number of families in their homes, with utilities paid and their cars dependably on the road.  Whether you’ve supported the Foundation this year by attending the Golf Classic or the Cadillac Dinner or participating in Lancaster’s ExtraGive, by writing a check throughout the year or by planning to support us with your end-of-year contributions, we humbly offer our most heartfelt thanks!  Our mission to support families with children battling cancer continues to grow.  We couldn’t offer any of the assistance we described above without your support. On behalf of all the families you’ve helped us assist this year, we thank you and wish you a blessed and healthy holiday season and a wonderful new year!

Most sincerely,

The Board and Volunteers of the Jeff Musser Foundation
